Dr. Michael Battey has been a good colleague of mine back when he directed RWMC Podiatry Residency Program. I always enjoyed his seasoned take on things in medicine, contemplative wisdom and a cool of the surgeon. In addition he is funny in a best possible way - subdued and dry. Like well mixed martini with just one-green-olive.

So much to learn from people like Dr. Battey. I hope to surround myself with like-minded individuals like Michael who brings stability and freshness to the field that generally is considered too traditional. It did (not) surprise me then when Dr. Battey published a second volume of his well liked humorous book of essays of bringing up teenagers that first appeared as a column in Rhode Island newspapers, and later were compiled into vol. 1 and 2 of “Parent Trap Columns” published in 2017 and 2020 respectively.

Dr. Battey reads a selected poem from Emily Dickinson. We also share a 5 minute coffee hour, early morning conversation that I hope may inspire in a cause behind all of those readings… to support wellness for healthcare workers, professionals and those who support us. Botton above is podcast-style audio only and below full vide version. Enjoy!
