We Are Reading Poetry with Dr. Izabela Malinowska.
You are not alone if you struggle with stress and burnout.
Healthcare workers ( HCW) have been affected with tremendous burden of the pandemic that, in my opinion, is disproportional to many other segments of the society.
It is time to recognize the front line of our defense. Called heroes in 2020 live moved on and the difficult and hazardous workload did not really let off since the early stages of Covid19 pandemic.
What we have is a rollercoaster of emotions that take us from one wave, next wave … Those who work in the hospital get up and go and most do that with passion and dedication to their patients. However I do not think that stress and worry is left behind, but rather ever-present and smoldering in subconscious.
The We Are Reading Poetry series is the idea to bring clinicians and other HCW, and those who support them, together to showcase their different site - humane, thinking, transcending and doing so to stay on top of their game and remain grounded. With gentle presence of poetry the idea is to bring awareness to wellbeing efforts for HCW and also illustrate a devastating aspect of burnout. If we can show the light to even a single person who struggles and contemplates the idea of leaving the professions it makes a difference and builds hope that together we can move the needle in the right direction.
I would like to introduce a first HCW who will read a poem:
Dr. Malinowska graduated from Silesian University School of Medicine in Poland and her pathway led her to Boston, where she worked as a researcher in Harvard Medical School. Izabela practices yoga, loves travel, sightseeing and she watercolor paints among other activities that bring her joy while her current job post is Medical Director at GSK. She is a smart and compassionate MD/PhD who chose a beautiful poem by Pablo Neruda: watch the video to appreciate the holistic experience of this immersive reading.
